Boomer’s Babe Ruth cap up for auction

Babe Ruth’s 1934 Yankees cap, famously donned by Bombers hurler David “Boomer” Wells in a 1997 game, is going, going, gone to the auction block.

The Bambino’s hat is expected to go for at least $300,000, auctioneers said Monday.

“It has been an honor to be the caretaker of his Yankees cap for all these years,” Wells said in a statement from SCP Auctions in Laguna Niguel, Calif. “I’ll never forget what a thrill it was to honor the Babe by bringing the cap back to Yankee Stadium and wearing it on the mound.”
