The sale of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 1966-67 game worn UCLA Bruins home jersey for $137,849 back on November 5 at SCP Auctions set a new record price for a college jersey. The previous auction record for a college gamer belonged to Christian Laettner’s 1992 Duke Blue Devils home jersey which sold for $119,500 in 2014.

Rocky Statue Up-Close

A lot of sports history changed hands in SCP’s Fall Premier Auction 2017. From gamers used by legends to key sports cards to 1,800-pound statues, there was a lot of variety among the items sold. Leading the way was one of the original bronze statues cast for Rocky III, which sold for $403,657. It had been a focal point of the San Diego Hall of Champions for more than two decades. Standing more than 12-feet tall with the base, the statue is just like the one that still stands outside the Philadelphia Art Museum.

New MJ Olympic Shoes 1

What’s rarer than the rarified air of a pair of Michael Jordan game-used shoes? A pair of Michael Jordan game-used Converse shoes — and the latest pair of shoes from the 1984 Olympics to sell via SCP Auctions went for nearly six-figures at auction following a record-setting sale earlier this year. This time around, it was a size-13 pair worn earlier in USA Basketball’s march to gold that sold on Sunday for $88,644.

New MJ Olympic Shoes 1

A pair of Michael Jordan’s game used and dual signed Converse shoes from the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles sold for $88,644 in SCP Auctions’ 2017 Fall Premier auction that ended early Sunday morning, Nov. 5. It’s the second time in five months that one of these pairs of shoes has been sold. This time, the pair was not the same one he wore in Team USA’s gold-medal-winning game versus Spain – which sold for a record $190,373 in June – but rather another pair of the same model shoes he wore earlier in the tournament.

Rock1

The online bidding in SCP Auctions’ 2017 Fall Premier auction ended early Sunday morning with Lot #1 – an original 12-foot-tall, 1,800-pound “Rocky” bronze statue, one of two identical examples created by noted sculptor A. Thomas Schomberg for use in the 1982 film “Rocky III” – leading the way with a final realized price of $403,657. Next up was a rare 1966-67 UCLA home jersey worn by Basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when he was still known as Lew Alcindor during the first of his three NCAA title-winning seasons with the Bruins, which went for $137,849.
