Rock1

Goodbye, Rocky. The iconic statue of Rocky Balboa that stood victoriously, and fittingly, in Balboa Park, for years is on the auction block. The nearly 13-foot-high bronze figure is a replica of the statue featured in the 1982 “Rocky III” film that now sits near the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps where Sylvester Stallone’s character trained. The only other replica is owned by sculptor A. Thomas Schomberg.

Mr. Padre: An online auction of Tony Gwynn’s personal memorabilia has brought in $217,770. The sale of 105 items was arranged by the Baseball Hall of Famer’s widow, Alicia Gwynn. She cited two objectives in the SCP Auctions material: “To share his baseball memorabilia with the fans who loved him and to give something back to the city that treated us so well.”
