1962 Pele Signed & Inscribed Brazil National Team (World Cup Champions) Match Worn Home Jersey – GRAD Auth.
Few names in sport carry the weight of Pelé, and few garments capture his early legend like the canary yellow of the Seleção. Offered here is a match-worn Brazil home jersey from 1962, the year Brazil defended its crown in Chile to become back-to-back World Cup champions. A 21-year-old Pelé, already a global phenomenon after his teenage heroics in 1958, entered that tournament as the most celebrated player on earth, and his presence in the famous yellow and green remains one of the defining images of the era.
The long-sleeve cotton jersey was manufactured by Athleta of São Paulo, the national team’s supplier during this golden period, and retains its original woven “Uma Malha Athleta” collar label bearing the firm’s Rua Siqueira Bueno address. Classic period features include the green knit collar set into a V-neck, green ribbed cuffs, and the embroidered CBD (Confederação Brasileira de Desportos) crest sewn to the left chest. The reverse displays a large sewn-on “10” in royal blue twill, the number Pelé made immortal.
Across the front, Pelé has added a heartfelt Portuguese inscription reading “Com abraço do seu amigo” (“With a hug from your friend”), followed by his signature. The inscription and autograph have softened with age but remain legible, lending the piece a personal, period feel consistent with a jersey given directly by the player.
The jersey exhibits honest wear consistent with match use and more than six decades of age, including overall toning and light soiling, a faint stain near the inscription, and minor fraying along the edges of the tackle-twill numbers.
The jersey is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from MEARS supporting its match use, along with GRAD authentication. A true cornerstone piece of football history, representing the sport’s greatest icon during Brazil’s championship dynasty.
