Brendan came to SCP Auctions in July 2013 after working for Upper Deck just a short drive down the I-5. He was an avid card collector in his youth until playing sports took over. While he may be more proud of his team sports adolescent glory days in soccer, basketball and baseball, it was middle-distance running that gave him the opportunity to compete on the cross-country and track teams at Duke University (and, admittedly, to get into the school). He dabbled in the financial services industry before earning an MBA in Sports Business and turning his attention back to sports marketing and memorabilia.
Having grown up in the Bay Area, Brendan remains a loyal Giants, 49ers and Warriors fan, and is proud of his NorCal roots in spite of how soft SoCal has made him. He is most passionate about baseball having heard countless stories from his father, who pitched for the Dodgers organization in the 50’s and 60’s. A numbers guy and people person, Brendan feels lucky to be able to go to work each day living and breathing sports.
Mike came to SCP Auctions in January 2019 after working in various operational roles for the better part of the last decade. He grew up in Orange County, California and spent some time living and working in New York City after graduating from Cal State Fullerton in 2009. Mike has a multifaceted operational background. He likens his skill set to a Swiss army knife, having worked as an Operations Manager for a tourism company in NYC to running a manufacturing and distribution company back home in Orange County.
Mike is a family man at heart and spends most of his free time with his wife, Katie and son, Teddy. He is extremely passionate about Los Angeles Lakers basketball and almost never misses a game. His other favorite sports team is the Oakland/Vegas Raiders and due to his wife’s love of the Angels, he’s a Mike Trout fan by proxy. Mike enjoys surfing, playing basketball and occasionally plays golf when time permits.
Dennis hails from Nebraska and moved to Southern California with his wife and two daughters in 2018. He worked for Collector’s Universe for a short stint before coming to SCP to fill our Shipping Manager role. Dennis’ uncanny attention to detail and expert knowledge in sports memorabilia allows him to get specials sports treasures shipped out to our customers on time and in perfect condition.
As a young man, Dennis collected packs of football cards and still has them tucked away in a box at his residence. He played college football for a local junior college and then Peru State College from 1990-1994. He was the starting Guard and Tackle all four years. Dennis is a huge fan of the Dodgers and Raiders. He also enjoys watching Nebraska football. Dennis spends his free time with his family.
Administration and Reception
Growing up Karen spent most of her time at the ice rink skating and watching her brother and cousins play hockey where she grew her love of the game. Nowadays she still spends most of her free time at the rink supporting her husband’s Adult League Hockey team or watching and cheering for the Los Angeles Kings. She enjoys working at SCP Auctions and learning about different sports and being surrounded by people with so much passion for sports and important sports memorabilia.
Photo Editor and Catalog Design
Rich began collecting baseball cards in 1979. When all the other kids would get candy and ice cream from the ice cream truck, he would buy packs of baseball cards. Rich’s hobby career began in 1989 working at a local card shop and continued through 1997, before coming to SCP in 2008. Always a collector, he is currently working on a ‘59 Ted Williams Fleer set graded PSA 8 or higher. Rich cheers for the L.A. Dodgers and Anaheim Ducks when time allows.
